Frequently Asked Questions

New to chiropractic? You likely have questions about this natural and effective form of health care. Below are the FAQ we’re most often asked, and Dr. Berner’s responses:

Once I go to a chiropractor, will I always have to go?

No, our goal is to keep you in alignment as long as possible, and we tend to see patients far less than most traditional chiropractors. The longer you can stay aligned between adjustments, the better.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

No, our adjustments are gentle, with no twisting, cracking, or popping of the spine.

Can chiropractic cure everything?

No, chiropractic can fix or improve things that come from the spine directly or indirectly. However, some symptoms will cause a patient’s symptoms, but we cannot correct them (i.e. vitamin deficiencies, genetic disorders, lead poisoning, etc.).

Why would I have my newborn or young child adjusted?

The birth process can be traumatic and cause a misalignment in a child in the same way as an adult. Children usually hold their alignments much longer than adults once corrected.

Can chiropractic help with colic and how?

Yes, chiropractic can help with various GI issues. The vagus nerve originates in the brainstem/upper cervical spine and controls the intestines. If the nerves are not functioning correctly, a baby can have dysfunction in their bowels. Chiropractic corrects subluxations.

Does insurance cover chiropractic visits?

Insurance coverage depends on the patient’s specific coverage and deductible. We do all the billing/coding documentation for the patient to submit.

How much will care cost me?

There is no charge for the consultation. We need to make sure your case is a chiropractic one, and you need to ensure this is the type of care you’re looking for. Future care depends on your specific case, but we provide many options from care plans to pay per visit.

Do I need a referral from my physician?

No, you don’t need a referral unless your insurance company requires one.

Do you work with medical doctors?

We often coordinate with medical doctors. There are problems that can be out of our scope, and we will direct the patient to the right place for those situations.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

Whether you get adjusted on the first visit or the second depends on your case. Dr. Berner will sometimes take extra time to review additional MRIs, CT scans, etc. before providing chiropractic care.

Will you suggest exercises or other things I can do?

Yes, we provide a comprehensive list of instructions for patients following their first adjustment.

Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

Yes. Our care is very specific and gentle.
